About First Class Heating and A/C

First Class Heating and Air was founded in January of 1994 by Neil and Melinda Newell. Neil and Mendy both went to school in St. Augustine and have raised their two daughters here in St. Johns County as well. Neil gained a great deal of his education on the intricacies of complex mechanical parts while serving his country in the Navy on Nuclear Submarines. By the time he finished his tour of duty, there was nothing he couldn't fix or, at the very least, figure out what the problem was.

Neil began his career in the Air Conditioning field working for other Air Conditioning companies in the St. Augustine North Florida area, before he and Mendy decided to start an A/C company that was different from all the rest. Their goal was to create a profitable company that was known for its’ honesty, integrity, and quality of air conditioning sales and service.

Starting a business is never easy, but with many long hours and a strong dedication to their decision, they gathered their resources and began the journey. Neil brought Jim Blakney on board with them and they started as a three-team company, with Mendy running the office and Neil & Jim doing all of the fieldwork. The moral fiber of the company was a priority (and still is) so all of the employees that were hired were Drug Tested and Background Checked. This policy is still in effect today even with the high cost of running these tests.

As the company continues to grow, Neil spends a great deal of attention to teaching his employees. Not only does he spend time at the chalkboard in the office training, he also spends money on sending our employees to school to keep them abreast of the constantly changing technologies involved in properly installing, servicing, and maintaining Central Heating and Cooling units in the North Florida, St. Augustine, and St. Johns County areas.
